Sunset and Vapour Trails over Sitka Sound, A Retrospective Tale of Two Travellers Part 13

This quick succession series of photos was taken by hubby as the sun set on a cloudy evening and includes some vapour trails that always fascinated us while we were there.

Here in Western Australia it is very, very rare to see vapour trails and while there are only a couple of commercial flights that land in Sitka every day there are always vapour trails floating in the sky, that obviously come from planes that are flying over on their journeys somewhere distant.

I love the tones in these photos.

And just because I can, here are a couple I took on a clear day, at one point I think we had 5 or 6 within our view forming pretty lacy patterns as they drifted across the blue sky.

  1. Exquisite. We do get jet trails here quite often, and I love them but those sunset over the water photos that your hubby took are something else. Oooh and ahhh.

    1. Think Perth is too warm for many jet trails, I have seen a couple but years apart and we live quite close to the flight path out of Perth. I was really impressed with this photos hubby took. Thanks for popping by xxxx

  3. What beautiful photos B took...almost like black and white photography as they are so clear.
Loved those you took as well. I wonder if there is an airforce base somewhere near perhaps. I too think that perhaps atmospheric conditions may tend to show the vapour trails more clearly. Thanks for sharing these fantastic pictures with us. xx

    1. I think they just have a lot more air traffic than we do here in the remote side of Australia and with the air being so cold the jet trails show up more. But pretty awesome when so many appear at once. Thanks for popping by xxxx
